Chase those crazy baldheads out of the town

I am tired of my hair and contemplating shaving my head. I have a big afro which I restrain in a frohawk, like this one. The last time I got this itch, I ended up shaving off my lovely, ass length dreadlocks, just like that and I have regretted it ever since. So AH, should I shave it or let it grow? How do you feel about women with bald heads?

Baldheaded people are incredibly sane, rational, good fun and intelligent.

    Excellent lovers too.

    You're bald aren't you?
Yes, partly by choice, because I love the air of distinguishment that it gives me, and partly by nature, because I have no hair.

I think it can look really well, and highlights pretty faces strongly, but many might disagree. It certainly doesn't look unfeminine or anything anyway, so I wouldn't worry.

Why not train it all into one great big ginormous superduperfunkychunky dread? When it grows long enough you could sit on it at bus stops.

    Get your dreadlocks back.

What if instead of shaving it you just shorten it?

Also, on a practical note, I used to have hair most of the way down my back. When I was living in shítty rented accommodation for college I'd have a solid three or four minutes of hot water to shower in, which made it about impossible to keep the hair clean and me from developing hypothermia at the same time. Ended up cutting it off short. Then my true laziness shone through and I realised how much easier it is to have short hair. Being bald will obviously be more of the same, though I do miss it (and the beard) when it's cold...

I read your question different the first time. I guess that's an option too. I could do that. I've had my hair an inch long before but I've never been bald before and even though I am more than a little apprehensive about it, I am also fascinated by the idea.

Being bald really does let the cold get you. Try short first then go bald if you are not happy. You can always cut it off but you have to wait for it to grow back.

I understand this all too well. It used to take me an hour just to wash my dreadlocks and my back would hurt from the wet weight of them, another hour to dry and when I had to lock them, 3 hours!!:eek:

Bald is sounding more and more attractive now that I remember why I had the itch to cut my dreadlocks in the first place. No salons, no women pulling at your head for hours on end, no pain....

Dreadlocks look like shít, but that frohawk thing is sexy. Keep it.

I'm bald as a coot, doesn't bother me - in fact i look better bald than with hair.
But that being said i would KILL, for an afro!

Bald heads on the ladies are way too subjective for a bunch of people on d'internet to give you any kind of clear guidance

Careful now. If you go totally bald you'll find out what shape your head really is! What happens if you have one of those totally bockety heads? Like the people on winning streak?

I should probably add a poll and go with the winning team. As for the post about the right face for it- I don't know if I do but if I shave my head, it will be fun to find out :). When people think you've made a mistake, they go, 'you changed your hair,' and then they follow it with the obligatory compliment to cover up as opposed to, 'wow, your hair looks great.' :D

Don't do it, looks atrocious 99% of the time, very very very few women can even kinda pull it off.

Why not try braids instead of the dreads? Braids are sexy as hell and easier to wash and manage etc.

Either way, whatever you decide, BAAPOGTFO.

I always found bald heads on women quite attractive, particularly in a skinhead style, with the fringe but the rest bald. I've never seen someone it didn't suit... except Sinéad O'Connor!

I think when women cut there hair very short its not great looking. I think when women shave there heads it looks horrible to be honest.

I wanted to do this. My friend had this done and it looked great on her. She has a really well shaped head though and I have no clue what mine is shaped like. I tried to feel the back of mine to try and get an idea of its shape before I make what could be a colossal mistake but I really can't tell. I'll just have to chance it if I decide to I guess.

Okay, I just tried to prove you wrong by finding attractive bald women so I googled images of bald women and for every one I found that could carry it off, there were 20 more who looked awful :(. All the ones who looked awful also kind of had my head shape.

I've had braids once. You have to sit for an entire day while someone pulls your hair. It feels like they are trying to yank chunks of your hair out for a looooong time. No no no. Never again.

Not a big fan of short hair or a bald head on a female myself. I can understand the whole efficiency thing though. Long hair must be a pain to live with.

I don't think 'it's the pits' but that was what I voted - just prefer women with a woman's hair-cut tbh.

This short is fine though (is that short?)

I'm out of my depth here.. :o

If you did it in a skin style, with some "stubble" so to speak, it really looks good on anyone, I think. ALso, in regards to the Google Image thing, that's a terrible place to find anything to do with haircuts that aren't completely mainstream, whether you're looking for mod, skin or whatever, google yields nothing but shite! :P

That is short :) but I meant shorter. Like this. Although Noemie Lenoir is absolutely gorgeous so I probably shouldn't use her as an SI unit for bald headed women.

It just yielded Noemie above. Far from shiite. :)

This might sound weird, but I think some black chicks can pull off the super short haur thing really well.

White girls generally look stupid with shaved heads though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,192 ✭✭✭Sound of Silence

If you can carry it off like Sinead O'Connor did in the early Nineties (When she was still sane) then you're good to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 100 ✭✭sheikhnguyen

It depends on if you can pull it off. Some women look cracking with very short/ no hair at all. As a side note the ladies in the photos you linked to must spend an immense amount of time on their hair.

I have long hair, its about halfway down my back! I have to say I love my hair but Ive been considering getting it cut short. Think Ill just leave it, Id miss it if I did. Think its my best feature :o

That said, if you have the face to pull it off, which I know you do :P Then I think you should go for it. If you think you'll regret it then just cut your hair short, and if you dont like the style you could always shave it after!

I'm female and i used to have a 2 and a half foot mohawk. It was too long to put it up, so i wore it to the side.

When i was in a good mood, i felt like a badass. When i was in a bad mood, i more or less lay on the floor of my room rubbing the stubble on the sides of my head and cried about wanting pretty plaits.

I would top myself if i was shaved bald. I do have one side shaved, but the rest of ny hair is pretty girly, so i can cope.

In my experience, shave your head and everyone will assume you are a lesbian. Not the end of the world obviously, but something to bear in mind.

You have beautiful hair- don't cut it!! It's so lovely and luxurious!! If I want to shave mine because it's a pain in the butt and mad expensive too. The women in the African salons I've been to in Dublin know next to nothing about how to take care of my hair, they charge me a fortune every time and I am just tired of having the same convenient hair do is all. And thanks for the compliment :o.

Super cool (said in Jack's voice. Jack from the movie 2 nights in Paris with Julie Delpy).

A load of people already assume I am a lesbian. It doesn't bother me in the least. I like to hang out in The George and other gay pubs too (they are much better craic) so it creates even more confusion :).

Some women "punk etc) look kind of sexy with it.

A 45 year old housewife with bingo wings looks decidedly unsexy bald.
