Common Lizard

    I spotted a common lizard while out walking yesterday. I didn't think they would be active this early in the year but then the mild weather of the last few weeks has them fooled.

    I too have seen them in the Wicklow Mountains and also up in the Mournes in dreadful, wet cold conditions, not at all the kind of environment you'd expect to see a cold blooded creature like them in.

    This one I saw on the Sheep's Head peninsula in Co. Cork.
    The only reason i know what it was is because there is only one species of lizard in Ireland apparently.
