Rendering party/internal walls of mid-terraced red brick house

Hope someone might have an insight on this or can point me to some relevant information elsewhere.

Looking at getting the external walls of our mid-terraced red brick Edwardian house dry-lined and some of the rather uneven party and internal walls made sound & re-plastered/skimmed. So trying to find out what I should be looking for to get the best results.

The plan is for the external walls to be stripped back to the brick work and made sound with a lime based render before being battened out and covered with a breathable insulating board. This is all aimed at preventing any future issues with condensation and dampness.

The question is should lime render be used to make the party/internal walls sound after being stripped back too or can regular cement render be used prior to being plastered?

Any suggestions on this? The name & contact details of a good, experienced professional, who may have done similar work, would be very useful too.

    Any help would be appreciated.

What board where you thinking of using ? In an ideal situation you would avoid a cement render as it won't breath like a lime plaster.

I have used calsitherm boards in a situation like yours however you are looking at 100 m2 for the materials alone !

Do you have any problems with damp at the minute?

If not, and if you are going to board over the wall anyway, I suggest the breathable felt/vapour barrier and a gypliner system with foil backed boards. It will stand off the wall and you can put insulation in the cavity also. If you do go down this route, it is best to use a closed cell insulation, extruded polystyrene may suit but don't use any type of fibre insulation on an external wall.
