Well I'm going to take a look at a jaguar xk tomorrow and was just Looking for some advice as of what to look out for. Only thing I am aware of is that the engine should of been replaced under warranty.

The price seems for too cheap to be clean so I don't know what to expect.

    Cheers.

It's the cheapest 2001 XK with the lowest mileage. I'd be a bit dubious. I assume you've read all the buyer's guides?

I have just googled "problems with jag xk" and the only major issue I found was to make sure the engine was replaced.

Just do the usual checks like the sills for signs of distortion from chassis clamps, any weld work under the boot liner, chassis legs in good condition and look original and any overspray paint anywhere on the engine or door jams?
As this car is quick, it might have seen the wrong side of a ditch!!!

engine was not neccesarily replaced under warranty unless it gave problems within a certain period after the standard mf warranty ran out.

Gearboxes go on these aswell, so drive it on a hill and check for excessive slurring or indeed the opposite clunking.
Bushes are a kinda service item on these aswell but it has a fresh test.

Upper cam chains snap aswell so have a listen to the top end on each side for slack and check dipstick for varnish from lack of oil changes which will cause chain trouble.

Tbh, that's the going rate, it's not 'cheap'.

A colleague of mine bought one about 4 months ago for about the same money, his a '99. But it's a lot of car for the money - nice car.

Well it turns out the car doesn't have it's test. Take a look at picture 3! The wishbone needs to be replaced. It should be fixed and tested by tomorrow afternoon.

Sounds a bit too quick tbh for an independent test  there's a heap of bushes to be replaced , it's not like doing a wishbone on polo. In Ireland expect it almost annually , big labour.

Car now has a NCT but no service history since 2007. The last service was at 49000 in 07. Therefore I just walked away.
    Thanks for all the replies.

That's only 10k miles ago. Hardly a capital offence. The majority of cars like that do low miles p.a.

Don't think I'd be happy driving a sports car on 6 year old oil, no matter what the mileage was.
