Has anyone noticed the amount rubbish cosmetics adds on TV and "scientific" articles in the tabloids lately?

For example, L'Oreal laser renew?? "Provides intense action to target wrinkles, proven to rival laser treatment"

Gillette hydrator molecule?? is that just water?

The guys in the marketing dept are being paid big bucks to attract consumers and this is the sort of stuff that sells.

Its like the ads for wholegrain breads or cereals saying they are the "healthier" choice. Healthier than what though?!

The book Bad Science said it best when it said "Gillian McKeith, or to use her full medical title.....Gillian McKeith :D

I strongly strongly recommend everyone to read that book, loads of huge eyeopeners in there.
1 great point off the top of my head is that theres absolutely no science behind adding ANY of those highlighted additives in hair and skin products, just because hairs made of keratin that doesnt mean putting more of it in a shampoo would do anything, much like rubbing stone against a stone wall doesnt make the wall stronger.
In the last few years skin and hair products have come out containing creatine, caffeine, arginine and oddly enough urea. At that rate people will be rubbing NO Xplode into their heads

I only just thought that myself earlier when 1st posting on this thread as I had a look on badscience.net. Great minds think alike!
He touched on the tricks of the pharma industry in bad science and as a result I now pay ZERO heed to studies as unless its cochrane reviewed theres no way to tell if its dodgy or been fiddled

Whenever I see any ad now with their dodgy science I just think of this!

    Monsieur Garnier and the Laboratoire
