Hi guys, I'm looking at buying this laptop from hardwareversand.de

    http://lb.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?adp=0&aid=65672&agid=728&apop=3

That one has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphics card which is fairly decent for gaming and it has an Intel Core i5 (3rd Gen) 3210M / 2.5 GHz ( 3.1 GHz ) / 3 MB Cache processor. Sounds good for €589.

Does anyone think I could do better anywhere for the price? My budget is around 600 quid. I also need it to have a decent graphics card for gaming.

    Thanks :pac:

Actually I just found a better deal :)

This is around 40 quid cheaper and has a better graphics card, though the processor is not as good.

GT 630M is not worth it. You achieve the same game play with Core i5 Intel HD4000 + 2x RAM modules as dual channel configuration. and less heat, noise, longer battery life, thinner body, less weight..

    MAverick one makes more sense.

The i3 will really mess up for nearly all new games as its only clocked at 1.5 Ghz. Its a pretty bad processor. The i5 processor is grand for gaming but again the graphics card is weaker. I'd wait till you get a better deal

Is there really that much difference between the i5 and the i3 processor? I thought the graphics card was the main thing to look for in a gaming laptop.

Most of the reviews online of the Acer Timeline say that games work well even on max settings. I can't find any better value laptops anywhere for under 600 euro.

    What about this one?

    http://www.komplett.ie/Komplett/product/17_18_inch/80008578/hp_17_3_pavilion_g7_2203sd_a8_4500m_6gb_750gb/details.aspx

This has a AMD A8-4500M Processor and a AMD Radeon HD 7640G graphics card. It also has 1600 x 900 screen resolution better than the other 2.

How would that compare to the other 2 for gaming?

This AMD combo is better for gaming than previous mentioned, if you don't need portability (17", 3kg)

Core i5 is really that much better in demanding applications than i3.

What games you want to play and are you satisfied with low to mid settings for eye candy effects? see my sig I'm selling away pretty new Asus. I tested F1 2012 game on it works well on low settings, but it uses DirectX 11 so it's still very nice looking. And still ultra portable stylish laptop.

There the ones with the i5 processor though i presume? Its just the i3 at 1.5 Ghz is seriously going to bottlekneck any new games you play regardless of graphics card
