I am an overseas lawyer(S. America) based in Dublin and will be doing the GDL and LPC qualification when I move to London later this year.
I would love to get some work experience in Dublin this month before i start a new position in early February. How do you reckon would be the best way to go about this? Simply email/call some Dublin lawyers and chance my luck or is there a more formal way?

    Any assistance much appreciated!!

Walk into solicitors firms and ask them can you work for free for a few weeks for experience. You'd be doing very well to get any paid work experience.

Out of curiosity - One of the common law S. America countries? (there might only be one I don't recall).

Yeah well the best chance you'll have is to walk in and speak to them about it!

Interesting. I hope you will update the tread with some reflections when you get settled. Good luck.

Oh and +1 on the walk in - loads of law students do it so I can't see an issue with someone with more experience doing it. I suppose your biggest issue is getting somewhere that lets you get stuck in to a greater degree.
