nope, sata data and power are the same connection on laptops and desktops.

you *may* want to get a 2.5" to 3.5" disk caddy/adapter, but there's no moving parts in an SSD and they don't weigh very much so you could just do what i did and duct tape it to the inside of your case. :D

ok thanks...one more question...the power supply will obviously need to have a sata connection to the solid state drive ...is that right?

Yup. SSD's are too small to have a molex connection on them for power. Either the power supply needs a SATA power connection, or you'll have to buy a molex-sata adapter

is the sata cable the connects the SSD to the motherboard the exact same cable that connects the SSD to the power supply?

No, they're two different cables, for the two different "ports" on the SSD.

The smaller one is for the cable to the motherboard, the larger is for the power connection.

How old is your PC. You may not be using SATA (which the SSD is) if it is too old.

You need a SATA data cable (preferably sata 3), looks like this:

And a SATA power cable from the power supply that looks like this

Doesn't matter if it's a SATA 3 cable. Any sata cable will do, a SATA 1 cable will perform at the same speeds as a SATA 3 cable.
