Just recently got engaged and am thinking about honeymoon plans. I'd love to hear ideas... We're probably going in August but if we got any great ideas for another time of year we could possibly change... We have three weeks free in August so that really is the ideal and we're up for any kind of holiday!!

    Budget?
Anywhere you won't/don't want to go to?
    Age/Interests? Beach/Culture/Adventure/Slob?
    Comfort level?

We went to Tanzani last year in July for ours and it was brilliant. We did a 6 day safari and had just under 2 weeks on Zanzibar after that before home again.
It was a fabulous holiday and although winter for Tanzania it was 25 degrees + at least every day. That suited me brilliantly as I am likely to melt in extreme heat!

Nowhere I won't/don't want to go! We're both in our early 30s. I guess we wouldn't be up for crazy nightlife scene, we're not really bothered by that. We would like somewhere pretty comfortable, don't fancy roughing it too much ;-)

Penny Dreadful, that sounds great! I'd love to do safari but thought I was looking at the wrong time of year...

Why PM would it not be useful to others to post it up here for when similar queries are posted?

    Still no budget figure?

Fair point :o I said PM thinking that other people wouldn't want me clogging up the thread with details they may not be interested in. Silly really as I was very glad to have other people's experiences when I was booking my trip.
I'll post the details when I get home later.

No budget figure because I don't know it yet! That's a bad idea I know but we're trying to put together a few options and will look at costs then when comparing.

we are going on ours in July and going to Florida for 5 nights and sun palace cancun for 12 nights all inc.

just throwing a question out there. we are flying from Dublin to gatwick to Florida or so i taught. just seen on booking receipt that they have us flying into Miami international airport. didn't spot this before as taught even was looked after by local travel agent with what we agreed. nothing on it to suggest that there is even a charter flight from Miami to Florida. last think i wast is to be driving for 4 hours after a long range flight. flying from Miami to cancun and nothing about charter flight there either. the said thing is i took it in good faith without checking the booking details before paying a deposit. would i be entitled to deposit back if am not happy. or is it my tough look. have sent emails to agent tonight so will no tomorrow. am gutted as my wife doesnt know where we are going as it will be a surprise to her. can anyone fill me in. thanks

Eh...Florida is the State, Miami is a city IN Florida???

There is no such airport as Florida International Airport, you are most likely to be flying into Miami International Airport is flying from Gatwick to Florida.

Might I suggest some guidebook or map time before you go :p BTW July is the start of hurricane season in the Gulf Coast so make sure you have decent travel insurance.

sorry ment to say Orlando airport as hotel only 12 minutes away from there. ya have good travel insurance. was lookin into it and last few years has been ok in July. was mainly in April time. Miami airport is along way away from where we are staying and after a 10 hour flight that last thing i want is to be traveling for 4 hours.

We did 5 nights in Beijing...lots of tours, history etc. Then did 3 nights in Kuala Lumpur city (pubs/clubs/shopping)...and finished with nearly three weeks in Bali. That was fab....pampered and relaxed. Did some tours and adventures stuff (fishing, boating and diving). Treated like royality and all very well priced. Since the terrorist attacks in Bali years ago, they are very welcoming to tourists in an effort to re-build their good name. "Cead mile failte" only in their language :D.
