Seriously crazy stuff with seriously bad repercussions for the zorbers...

edit - update from Russian news site. seems second guy escaped with minor injuries - other guy not so lucky.... google translate a bit dodgey but you get the jist...

Skating in a huge ball zorb on the slopes of the Caucasus Dombay ended in tragedy for two Russians who traded skis for dangerous fun. Pyatigorchanin Denis Burakov found a mate Vladimir Shcherbakov, with which with the help of the instructor got into a huge ball that allowed the slope. However Zorb rolled on the wrong path, which was supposed to, and headed straight for the abyss. Zorb ride about a kilometer down the slope and was found in a remote place in a frozen lake Peacock, according to the website of the Investigative Committee of the Republic.

"Found them in the world. Burakov Dennis was still alive, but got a compression fracture of the spine, and on the way to the hospital died. Second guy got a concussion and minor injuries. Overall, given the fate of his partner, he was just lucky. Its been released from the hospital home in Pyatigorsk, "- told "Komsomolskaya Pravda" Senior Assistant Investigations Department TFR in Karachay-Cherkessia Sergei Chuvalo.

Everything that happened was filmed friends of the deceased. On the video, which was posted on the Web, you can clearly make out the car in a large bowl - fun quite inexpensive. The question: "How much?" people running the ball in a fatal way, replied: "300 rubles." (about 10 us dollars)

After that, a female voice-over says: "Where to run?" She said, "Who will see." When the ball went down the hill, but not cleared the road, it became clear that things did not go according to the planned route.

out of the 2 zorbers, one is dead, one critical.

apparently at the start one of the zorbers asks "where are we going?"
    response is "You will see!"

You would have thought that studying the lie of the land, would perhaps be the first prerequisite for engaging in such of activity. Fúcking idiots.

Lots of people die and get seriously injured in Zorbing accidents. Are they all idiots that deserve it too? I mean it's never exactly 'safe' to get inside a large fcuking ball and roll down a hill at high speed.

They are cursing and hoping the ball comes to a stop. Saying 'push it that way' etc (to the guy at the end of the slope trying to stop it).

When the ball rolls off to the left, someone says 'whats down there?'.

My initial point was directed at the muppets who organised the activity on a mountain. But since you mentioned it, maybe using a brain cell or two to see where the ball could potentially end up might have saved a trip to the hospital or morgue. But upon reflection, yes anyone who gets into a very large bouncy ball on a mountain slope. Especially with a slope that clearly veers over to the left and down a further drop? Yes, they probably are idiots.

If you jump out of a plane or off a bridge tied to a bit of rope or zorb apparently you really can't have too many complaints if something goes wrong.

Mythbusters recently proved that being wrapped up in bubblewrap would not save you in a fall of more than 10 metres.

We are just discussing that. Any credible links to him dying? We can't find any.
