On a few cars the oil pump makes a whining noise when its having trouble pumping oil around the engine, either due to blocked pipes/galleys or pump problems. Have a look at the engine through the oil filler cap opening with a bright light to check for sludge, there could be a lot more at the top of the engine and the new oil is dislodging it, blocking the pipes again. No knocking or tappety noises is usually a good sign, but that's a very sludged up bottom end.

    Probably not.
Does it occur only under motion or when revved at idle?

It may be gearbox, but have to listen to it to make sure.

130 000 km is a bit too early to have gearbox's bearings gone TBH.

I have a whining gearbox bearing in my 2006 D4D corrolla, garage has said it's ok, but it will need to be replaced at some stage, started at 50k miles

also, had a bearing fail in a 2002 corolla, on about 80K miles

Have you tried replacing the gearbox oil?
Its easy and cheap, 2 litres or thereabouts.

    Sorry, my fault. ;)

Just forgot 'yotas are now made in Turkey, UK etc...

And gearboxes (not sure if all of them for European market) are made in Poland.

When you say op "always serviced on time" is that at manufactures recommendation? as stated in previous posts manuf recommendatiions are for under ideal conditions.... you need much more frequent oil & filter changing (when & if now problem sorted) & hope all ends well!

The 07 on model corolla is made in Japan and that still suffers from noisy bearings.
