Circuit Court jurisdiction to be increased to €100k?

    Anybody hear anything official about this? It's been muttered down around the South East circuit at the moment but I don't think there's been anything official yet.

    Similarly I have heard rumours from Counsel practising in the SE and I would like to think it won't but it probably will come into effect.

    It's been a long time coming. Legislation in place for years. Haven't heard any rumors.

    Section 13 of the Courts and Court Officers Act 2002 which extends the Circuit Court monetary jurisdiction up to €100,000 has been awaiting commencement by way of Ministerial Order for the past 11 years!

    I heard €70/80K with specials allowing for a max of €100K

    have been told the changes are due to come into effect in the new year 2013... it was whispers in the Four Courts before the Christmas break.

    18 months ago the council were discussing it and €70/80k was suggested instead of €100k but now apparently they're back to €100k again. I'd assume any introduction would be in conjunction with the beginning of the michaelmas term.

    I've heard a "bar room" version of events of what was holding things up but I'd say we can all hazard a guess.
