So the 'Businesses closing' thread is starting to get a bit depressing, with all the doo and gloom of recession, and places closing as a result, so its always good to see a place opening, or reopening. So lets start off.

Might have been open a month now, but only discovered it yesterday, dispite driving past it several times, Teds Bike Shop, beside Docherty Tiles on the Killybegs Rd outside Donegal Town, and the reopening of Timonys Spar in Donegal Town, following a refit of the ajoining former Abra's and Hairdressers.

    Anyone else, post em here.

    we should keep scores

number of closures v number of openings

Although the bookies fave is closures being a Liverpool fan i'll cheer on the underdogs!

Spent many a late night, and a good few afternoons there around the early to mid 00's, including the night Liverpool won the Champions League, and an odd birthday. Was one of my favourite pubs in the town. Glad to see it back.

the new community centre by the church is almost finished too and the few renovations to the bosco are also being done. (shame they didnt get the grant for the planned extension)

Aye, they're selling household items, underwear, bedding, etc. and I believe there's some gift stuff near the front for the buses of tourists... as yet, I've not been in, just what I was told by someone who was.

A new barbers shop had opened in Donegal Town, in where Super Valu is. Not sure that the town really needs it, but it's a young local lad so all the best to him

Molly's bar in Dunfanaghy has re-opened, although completely revamped and modern.

Not a patch on the old layout!

That's the place, there have been a few eateries there over the last couple of years. It seems to be a popular location with businesses but less so with customers. I hope this one is a success, I love Thai food.

New cafe/coffee shop open in Bridgend, near enough opposite Dohertys.

Can't remember the name, and sadly for them I think they'll be short lived. Too pricey, limited menu and right over the road from a well established rival, although Dohertys are more hot food than a Starbucks style coffee shop. To top it off, the week they opened, Dohertys took the massive advertising board on the end wall of the new place with an ad and an arrow pointing over the road!

Every time I pass it the place is empty and Dohertys is heaving.

    Family rift :D

One opened a Cafe across the road to spite the other.

There is another new Cafe opened just a bit further down (next to Devlins) its seems better priced and seem to know what the different types of coffee are as when I went into Doherty's and asked for a latte I got a plain coffee

The one further down is well worth a try.

    Really? Crazy!

Didn't realise that, although it makes the sneaky tactic of advertising on your own rival's wall a bit more understandable.

I think Dohertys will win the battle though.

The Bay View Hotel in Killybegs has been sold, word on the street is that it is a local who has bought it. Hopefully it will re-open and create some employment in the area.

Great news. I love this shop. Not too expensive but relatively good quality. I just wish Zara would come to Letterkenny now, then my shopping excursions would be complete :)

Sage opened there after that, but it was closed the last couple of times I went passed it. People seem to think it's a great spot because it's beside the theatre, doesn't seem to turn out that way.
