They(the bottom pic) are frontIO from the case, not the PSU, and usually go on the mobo header.

Top is CD to Soundcard connectors. Not power. Least AFAIK. Most soundcards would be PCI powered. Read your manual.

OK this doesnt make much sense. Your PSU is your power supply. Do you mean the connection from your front headphone/mic to your sound card?? What model sound card is it?

    Alright.

This is the sound card http://www.dabs.ie/products/asus-xonar-d2x-7-1-pci-e-ultimate-theatre---gaming-soundcard-118db-snr-provides-hi-fi-class-audio-4ZH5.html

It needs a connection to the power supply i assumed it would be the same one as was in my old sound card i was wrong. It needs to be 4 pin like in the first photo.

You only need to connect the headers to the card if you want to use the audio ports on the front of your computer case. I, for example, never use said ports and never connect the headers to my X-fi.

The problem i have is that i cant find any cables to connect to the sound card from the power supply. Dont see anything that would go into that 4 pin connection. So when i plug the card in install drivers it says the card must be connected to a power supply.

I don't know what to tell you op other than those connections at the top are for connecting other sources not power. You should have gotten a midi bracket with the card in the box that has the cable that will connect into those 4 pin connector for instance.

Edit: Ahh reading the manual you do need to add power but it is not to those 4 pin connections but another on the far side of it. You need to plug in the sata that would normally go into a floppy drive.

Power point is on the back of the card, not with those headers.

ya I'm looking at the midi bracket now. See manual says to connect power cable to the sound card iI see none on my psu. Don't tell me gonna have to use a different psu?

If you do not have the correct plug then yes you will need a new PSU. However if you have a spare molex available you can probably get a converter online or maplin (you will be robbed) if you're in a hurry.

    EDIT: Ninja delete? :P

From looking at the manual it looks like a floppy connector cable.

    it looks like this: http://0.tqn.com/d/pcsupport/1/0/3/7/-/-/floppy-berg-mini-molex.jpg

If you do not have one then you can get something like this which will convert a spare molex to the required plug:

So you have 2 of these cables free?

If so, the cable I linked to on amazon is what you need. You should be able to get one at maplin or any computer shop around your area. Just ask for a Molex to Floppy Drive Power Cable. Dont pay more than a fiver for one though. They are only worth about 50c at most but you will pay out in a bricks and mortar.
