I can only advise not to buy the Dunlop or Nike ones in heatons. They work perfect until the wind blows and then "pop" inside out :-) still for €5 I guess you can't complain.

After a ridiculous soaking last 'summer' when yet another cheap brolly fell to pieces I bought a Taylor Made 'gustbuster' umbrella on eBay (similar to the one in the link, same price).
I'm very pleased with it, the ribs are strong and it has a double canopy so it never blows through.

A couple of observations about the size - it is huge! I went for the 64" one which is more like a 2-man tent, but it is great for keeping you dry head to toe when the rain is blowing sideways as it often does in this country.
On the downside its size makes it surprisingly heavy, which is fine if you have an electric cart but you might want to factor that in if you carry your golf bag as I do.

It wasn't cheap but after a year of use I can honestly say it was money well spent.

Totally agree with this - i've been through a few of them now and they are not worth a fiddlers!! Time to invest in a decent one.

I have a Nike one that I bought years ago in Marathon sports, i find it grand, if a little heavy.
however i find the one handed, button activation very useful when you are struggling with a bag etc.

The R11 umbrella is available from clubhouse golf for 19.99 plus postage which is around 8 pounds. I bought two pairs of shoes, one for a friend, and postage was free for package. Looks a fine umbrella, hopefully I won't need to test it too much. I lost my single canopy burner umbrella in the wind on New Years Eve!
