Using red eye with sky HD box

    Hi,

I hope someone can help me with this as I haven't a clue how to sort it.

I have a full HD TV and I receive the Irish Channels via a standard rooftop ariel.

I also use an old sky box (in the attic) to view the British channels, BBC, UTV etc

I also use a "red eye"

    Here is my problem.

A friend recently gave me a sky HD box which I decided to substitute for my old sky box as I wanted to receive BBC etc in HD.

I connected up the new sky box exactly the same as the old sky box but I can no longer receive the British channels.

Way back I simply scanned my tv in digital mode to set up the Irish Channnels and scanned in analogue mode to set up the British Channels.

Is there something further that I need to do to facilitate the new HD box?

    Thanks..

You got things wrong. Putting a Sky HD box in the attic will give you analogue SD just like the box you replaced. The only way to deliver HD is by connecting the HD box to the TV directly with a HDMI cable..

Thanks for that. I didn't know.

Old sky boxes default to London, newer HD boxes usually default to Irish EPG which doesn't include ITV/C4/C5 unless you have an old UK card to hand
