Stone Chips on Sprayed Front Grille

Looking at buying a new car at the moment, went to see one yesterday that I really liked, decent mileage, price etc

Anyway the front grille under the bumper is sprayed black, as is the chrome ring around each of the headlights and there is a vent in the bonnet that was sprayed black over the chrome too

Anyway all of them have suffered pretty badly from stone chips, I could actually see the chips quite visibly as I was walking up to it and though they were rain drops hanging out of the grille originally. The guy mentioned that the damage was so extensive as when it was done the spray they used was pretty low quality and offered to strip it back to the chrome for me.

Thing is though, I actually really like the way all the chrome was sprayed black and it was what drew me to the car originally. If I were to buy it after he stripped it back to the chrome for me, is there a way I could get it re-sprayed black where it wouldn't suffer so badly from chipping?

Very much out of my comfort zone with cars really so any decent product/shop recommendations would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    This stuff?

    That's the stuff alright!

I've had it on my front grilles for nearly a year now and it still looks the same as it did when I put it on. Even better is if you don't like/want it anymore, it just peels off.

You can also get it here from the Cleancar.ie guys...

    Nice one man.

I'll be doing the chrome around the headlights, front grille and bonnet vent. Would a few tins of the spray on that page be enough?

Depending on the size of the grille/vent, I would say you'd probably get away with two cans. Probably less than them both fully also, so you'll have some left for touch ups if ever required.

Have a look on YouTube on how to apply it properly and following those applications, you probably wont even have to remove the part from the car to do them either, the overspray just peels/rubs off. :)

Grand I was thinking of grabbing two, reckon it should be enough for a couple of coats.

I hadn't even considered needing to take the grille out, I was planning on just taping it off.

It's not a huge amount, but it looks much nicer blacked out than as chrome imo.
