Hey, I've recently moved into the area and am just wondering where my best bet to find the following are -
    • Fruit + veg shop, or a shop with a good selection of veggies
    • Quality barbers (and not somewhere that specialises in short back and sides and you're out in 10 minutes!)
    • And a nice pub that's good for a few drinks with preferably nice live music, similar age-group to myself (25).

I enjoy a good walk so they don't have to be in the immediate area nearby either!

Feel free to suggest any other well known or well kept secret places that I should look into! Thanks a mill.

I don't live near there but I do work close by.

On Hannover Quay there is a Fresh, it's pricey but there is a relatively good selection vegetable selection. It's also got a butchers an ATM and a fairly big wine and beer selection.

There is also a Barbers right beside Fresh, I've not used it so can't comment on how good it is.

I know a lot of the Google crowd go to the Ocean Bar which is on the opposite side of the doc to Fresh/Barabers.

I was at a leaving night out and it was quite good.

Theres a proper old school dublin fruit and veg shop on Grand Canal St Lw near spar:

As for pubs, not sure about live music, but you have 3 or 4 decent pubs up at the top of Shelbourne road in Ballsbridge.
Or walk down Haddington Road towards Baggot Street. Beggars Bush, Smiths, The 51 are all decent. Searsons on Baggot Street is a good pub too, so is the Waterloo. A bit of a walk, but The Ferryman is a nice pub, although it is a bit of a rip off. http://goo.gl/maps/AjsWo
And if you want a game of pool with your mates, Oil Can Harrys on Mount Street is one of the only pubs that still has a pool table! http://goo.gl/maps/FKU8F

As profiler said, Fresh is a bit pricey, but it's a great shop.
You're in one of the best locations in the city imho.

The Oarsman in Ringsend usually has live music at the weekend. Good mixture of age groups in there too. Best pub in the area imo.

You've also got the Bath a short wander away too, Slatterys, the ferryman, all not too far a wander. for a haircut, the Grafton Barbers near Fresh is decent enough - spent about 40 minutes in there last time I got a haircut (hair was long, and I wanted a medium trim).

Thanks for the replies, I've already spotted a few of those places on the way to work so I know where to go now.

Last question - there's a Eurospar nearby which has a nice selection... for a Eurospar. Where is my nearest large supermarket? Like, a Tesco, M&S or anything like that. Thanks.

Tesco in Sandymount is the closest. There's a Tesco Express in Ringsend but it's no better than the Eurospar. You have pretty much anything you need in town which is handy.

A tesco express on Baggot St too

It does the job for everyday stuff.

    Welcome to the neighbourhood!

There is an organic food market in St. Andrews Centre, Pearse Street every Saturday - full details on website: http://www.supernatural.ie/

(location is near junction of Macken Street and Pearse Street)

The fish guy outside the market on saturday's is excellent as well. the other good tesco nearby is Tesco Merrion, if you have a car its a short drive, or not too far to haul bags on the dart.
