My mother has just been diagnosed as a sociopath, all of her kids (my siblings) are estranged for her, my father who she had abused mentally and physically passed away. Now she has no one to fight with, is it likely she would come near any of us. She was hospitalized recently and the physcharitrist said his hands are tied because she cannot be detained under the mental health act. She has never met my family and lives quiet a distance away.

Should I inform the guards? Apparently the abuse even though it was years ago has been reported to the guards by the HSE. I am a anxious because iI am afraid for my children.

You can get a barring order and she goes to court and a judge says if she shows up at your door she will be arrested. When you break a barring order the judge usually gives a mandatory 3mth jail sentence. My Father was barred from my Granny's home.None of us go near him as he is a violent Alcoholic.Go and ask free legal aid about barring orders or pop down the Garda station and talk to them about it.

I was going to the guards tomorrow but sociopaths as far as I know are not like ordinary people and totally disregard the law and thrive on a challenge. If I get a barring order I may be planting ideas in her head, she may no intention of coming to me and now she may see a fight, which as far as I know they absolutely love.

If I do find out she is trying to find out where I am I will have to get a barring order, sounds great prison would be too good for her.
