Hey folks..
Been on short time/casual dockets the last year. At the time when we went on this, it was to save someone's job. The way it is, there is little or no chance of a return to full time work, and reality says there is little chance of the company lasting anyway. At the time, the company could not offer redundancy and said that statutory from the state was only option for anyone that wished to take it.
My question is this: Can i request that I avail of a redundancy now? I am sick of it and i want to emigrate. The company hasnt a washer and it will need to be state statutory. Can I ask the company to process this? It might save another workers job, I am pretty sure my fellow workmates will be delighted.
Have an opportunity for a new start and I am fixing to fly the coup. After 10 years + service (I know it is now less due to short time) a lumpsum would cushion the change.

It may be legally / practically difficult to ask for redundancy.

Do not mention that you are thinking of emigrating as they will then do their best to not offer you anything.
