Cheap Macro Lens

I'm looking for a cheap 1:1 macro lens and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions. I was considering the Canon 60mm, but would like somehting I could afford sooner.

It will be for video use (product detail shots) rather than photography, so a manual one will do. I already have an OM to EF adapter and have been trying to find macro OM lenses. Of course it would be just as easy to pick up another converter, so it shouldn't matter what mount it is as long as it's fully manual lens.

Any suggestions of lenses I should look for?

what is your budget ?..... some consider a secondhand macro lens cheap is its €300 ...others think its cheap if its €400 .

theres a few 100mm macro f2.8 lenses on adverts which should sell for less than their asking.

    50mm macro, 60mm macro, 100mm macro, 180mm macro .... all available.

I was thinking more along the lines of older manual lenses. In the €100 range. No idea if there are any at that kind of price, but I thought it worth checking.

    If there isn't, I'll likely save for a second hand Canon 60mm F/2.8 :)

60mm macro is an EF-S lens ...so ensure the camera can take EF-S lenses.

when you say OM-EF converter ...are you talking Olympus OM - EF Canon ... if you can find one it may not be the sharpest optics and will definitely be manual focus....best of luck !

I would suggest you save for the 50mm macro f2.5 ...or the sigma version.

Yep, will be used on my 60D or 550D (:

Yeah, for putting an OM lens on the Canon camera. I know they may not be the sharpest in the world but it's just for 1080p video, so it shouldn't be hugely important. Same with manual focus, as I'd be doing that even if I got the Canon ;)

    hi
    i would recommend rockycameras
if you do a google search warning you not to use this shop
i have bought five or six lenses over four years and not had a problem.
once a lens went missing in the post but my money was refunded no questions asked.
there are lots of cheap lenses and its good for a browse.
also try markets. i saw an 50mm 1.4 on a broken body for £20 in belfast last weekend. didnt get it cos i only have an m42 adapter. just watch out for fungus.
i find camera shops and ebay a bit pricier. either they no what they have and charge accordingly or have inflated ideas of value. you do get a deal every now and then.
also get some macro rings. i know people will say that it is no substitute for a "real" macro lens. but i think they are great and can be had for a handful of quids.
    good look on your search
