    hi all,

bit of advice required on suitable ski resorts please. myself and my girlfriend are trying to choose somewhere to go in the 2nd week of march (9th to 16th). we're reasonably experienced, having done ski weeks in the following resorts...sauze d'oulx, la thuile, mayrhofen, alpe d'huez & livigno. we've also been to bormio a few times for 3/4 day trips.

we want to go a resort we haven't been to before that combines being reasonably snow sure, having some nightlife (doesn't have to be hopping but shouldn't be dead like la thuile either!), ski-in ski-out and good skiing for intermediate / advanced.

not too fussed on which country or whether doing a package or booking different bits separately. all advice appreciated, thanks!

Val Thorens or Méribel, huge ski area, loads of accommodation options plenty of night life options. Were heading there the end of next week.

yeah val thorens looks like it could be an option, was hoping people might have been to some of the resorts to advise on what they're like.

saas fee looks gorgeous but i can't see any deals to there. crystal seem to offer it but all of the searches fail.

This is my 2nd trip to the 3 Valleys. Were staying in the same hotel in Meribel-Mottaret again. Last time we ski'd over to VT and Courchevel. Both looked really nice but Courchevel has a reputation for being very expensive and I can back that up with paying 8 euro for a hot chocolate over there!!!

I think VT is more moden then then the other 2 valleys, the runs over there tend to be more open, the further you get to Courchevel there more tree lined. VT is quite high so guaranteed snow but all of the 3 valleys has great snow ATM AND there was fresh snow on TuesdaY. The whole place got dumped on in December so the base is good. Last time I was there it hadn't snowed in a month but all of the pistes were fine, they do a great gob of grooming.

If you want to ski all of the 3V's you better off in meribel-mottaret as its central with lifts and pistes heading in both directions. But is a small village so night life is quieter. We tended to finish up in a bar on the slopes and bus or ski down to Meribel center and then bus back to Mottaret. There is no public transport between Meribel, VT and Courchevel so you do have to make sure and make your lifts home on time.

A 3 Valley lift pass is €260 for 6 days and €245 if your buying 3 or more.

mr spuckler Saas Fee is great but expensive and hard to get good deals on, and the lift pass is expensive!!!

I know I spend 5-6 weeks on average there a year! I would look at Tignes, good really snow sure and banging night life right up to the end of April .

    Enjoy

thanks for the various suggestions, both ischgl & st anton are very expensive on crystal ski, not on topflight at all.
tignes looks far cheaper for my dates.

i really like the sound of ischgl though, might see if i could do it myself for a reaonable price.

Have you you looked on snowtrek they are offering accommodation and liftpass for the a little along with the ski pass in france and italy on late deals you could chance the flights and wait until closer to the time to book the accommodation

Done a quick google there, apartment for £380 with ski passin Ischgl, flights for €25 each way to memmengen, car hire €200, not a bad holiday

thanks mate, hadn't heard of snowtrex before but it looks pretty handy. only problem with what you (and me after) searched for is the ryanair flights being sunday to sunday & accommodation being saturdays. could do it via zurich with aer lingus for about €160 but might be able to do better. will have a dig and see.

10th-17th march €565 for flights transfer & hotel. just went with crystal ski. probably could have done it cheaper elsewhere but happy to get it booked.

Not to bad you will get it done for less than 1k which is fine when paying for one .Not so nice when you are dragging 7 along:P
