This is less a problem with my job and more a problem with how to get the job. My end goal is to work in human resources. I have my degree but now i cant get work. Ive no experience and have unsuccessfully tried for internships. Now im stuck. Can someone tell me what area i should try work in that will lead me to human resources? Or is there an advice service i can use? Ive looked into career guidance but they seem to mostly deal with leaving cert students, Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!

    TRY ASSOCIATION NETWORKING:
There are professional HR associations that typically meet monthly for lunch and listen to presentations. Call any HR supervisors, managers, or directors you know (perhaps from your internship), ask if they are members of an HR association, and if they would take you as a guest. If so, arrive early, bring many 1-page resumes, and dress for success (i.e., interview). When there, introduce yourself to as many as you can, and make sure to get their business cards.

Follow-up a couple days later with short notes and calls for any HR job leads you may discover during the meeting. If they don't have an opening at the moment, then call for an appointment to ask their advice on how you can enter their field. After your meeting with them, find opportunities to follow-up on your appointment discussion; plus send them short notes on every holiday you can think of just to keep your name in front of them.

BE THE 3 Ps: Always be Polite, Professional, and Persistent.

What type of degree do you have? Is it a BA, Masters etc.

I'm interested in this thread now as I'm asking the same question! :D

I have a BA and currently studying for a BA hons (graduating this year) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I want to get in to EAP and emigrate to Canada... I have researched canada EAP providers and it seems a masters degree at least is necessary :(

I have the option of doing a one year masters this year.. which means putting off Canada move Until mid 2014... would rather go this year... oh what to do...

I'm a mature student... feeling the panic now of such a late start..
