Hi does any body know if I was to buy a Sky+hd box from England would I be able to re-program it to recieve Irish channels as my old Sky+ box does, ie new installation from the hidden menu.

I would like to do this as I can get an updated box from the uk ;50 Sky want €259 for the same box, this would enable me to get the new on demand service through the box via an ethernet cable, you can not do this if you have the old sky+ box.

Any help would be great. Thanks

If you have an active Sky sub its only a matter of changing the boxes and ringing Sky to have the card paired with the new box.

Sky seem to have an offer to upgrade from an old sky + box to a sky+hd box for free at the min but you have to sign up to the hd channels (12 months i think) dunno if there is any way out of this extra €15 monthly down the line?

    Hey,

It's €109 to upgrade to a HD box with Sky, €60 is for installation & €49 is for the box.. If you pay €15 a month for the HD subscription onto your current bill then you get the HD box free, I work for Sky..

    Hope this helps..

Sky have an offer at the moment, HD for €5/month and a free sky+ hd box, €30 installation, so it works out at €90 all in and you get HD for the year.
There's a thread about it in Bargain Alerts.
I signed up for this yesterday.
