Just booked myself flights to NYC for myself, wife and baby for €770 return in April with United Airlines...

Flights where coming in at €840 online but my pc was acting up so I decided to call them and book over the phone. For some reason I got the flights for €770 and I also reserved their economy plus seats at no extra charge (usually a $100 or so charge per person extra)

All in all I got the flights for €364 cheaper than the same flights with Aer Lingus and have an extra 5-6" of legroom. Win win if you ask me!

Did you have to ask for economy plus?

That's great value. I was looking at United there for the week of the 1st of April and a single return is came up as E1,323.

United codeshare with Aer Lingus so the flight your looking at will be an Aer Lingus flight. Its the exact same service as if you booked directly with Aer Lingus. United is just the middleman in this case.

    • Valid for travel on United and United Express® only. Star Alliance® or marketed codeshare flights do not provide Economy Plus seating.

what number did you ring please?

I did notice that a previous flight I was looking at was an aerlingus flight but this flight is with United (as far as I can tell), I fly into Newark (EWR) and Aer Lingus only fly into JFK...

If its EWR you'll be on a actually United Flight. There 757-200 are quite good, some say it too small but I find it a nice aircraft. Each seat has AVOD and power sockets

Checked the plane out on seatguru, does look a good bit smalle than the usual trans atlantic flights ive been on... suits me, not the best flyer n find smaller planes easier to handle for some reason..

    Hi
I have been looking at booking to go to Chicago and United have direct flight to Chicago from June. I wonder can anyone tell me how does a flight with United compare with flying with Aer lingus. There is about 350 euro of difference in the price in favour of United but I am not sure of the difference in service or comfort of flying.

When did United announce the direct flights? Somehow I missed it, you sure its not the Aer Lingus Code Share?

I've just copped on you probably flying from Shannon!

Flew United to Newark early December- flew from Shannon. Got flight thanks to BA here!!:) Couldn't complain about it ! We drove to Shannon night before - got hotel room for €49 for the night. Left car in hotel carpark for 6 nights, so avoided airport parking costs. Would recomend -was comfortable flight didn't feel confined.Would book again if I hadn't a massive credit card bill after trip!! :D

Yes sorry it is from Shannon so I think I will go for it I just wondered if there was much of a difference in service. Can I ask what hotel you left the car in that was a great price to leave the car.

My apologies it was €55 for triple family room for the night- in Shannon Court Hotel, Ballcasey, Shannon. Car parking was free!!!
