Okay guys, not really sure if this is the appropriate place to post, so feel free to move. I've liked this guy for awhile now. I've only ever talked to him whilst in a group, but a couple months ago we were at a mutual friends party and had a bit of a conversation. Later that night after he left, I found out from a friend he'd been asking what was my status because he thought I was good looking, this made me sooo happy, but I didn't see him again until New Years Eve, where we again talked, only for a brief while. My drunken friend decided to go over to him and tell him that I was "available" but he didnt really respond and just smiled at her.

Im not sure when I will see him again, so would it be a good move to drop him a line on facebook? Seeing as we havent had that much conversations, would it be a bit strange? And if I did message him, what on earth would I say?

    Thanks guys!

I'm presuming you are already friends on facebook here - if not say so. I would keep an eye on the chat box and wait till he's on. Chatting live seems more casual :-) . Just say hi and pick up on something you were talking about when you met before. Like " so how did your friend Neil like Turkey? " or whatever. You have nothing to lose!

Yeah, we're friends on it. I will keep an eye out for him tomorrow and hope for the best then! :P

Your friend put him on the spot on New Year's Eve so don't read too much into his reaction. Live chatting on Facebook is a great idea.

There's no point being passive and waiting for things to come to you. You'll only be left with regrets when it doesn't happen. Send him a message, I'm sure he'll be delighted to hear from you!

I don't understand why he didn't make conversation with you on New Year's Eve then. I think I would let him message you on facebook.

Why? I don't see the point in hanging around.

Go for it, I met my wife to be in a similar situation nearly 5 years ago. We're counting the weeks to the wedding now. If you don't at least try you'll be forever thinking "what if"?

Admittedly its many years ago but I can still remember being put on the spot by the pushy friend. The dilemma is - is the girl really interested in me or am I just being set up to look a fool by the pushy friend in front of everyone at the party. There's also the feeling then that the whole room is looking at you checking how the conquest is going! In essence the guy feels like a puppet who has no control. One 2 one on Facebook is very different however .....

Okay, he met you a few months ago and enquired about your status and was told you were single. He had a few months to contact you and didn't. Then he met you again on New Year's Eve and was given encouragement by one of your friends and again he didn't take up on it. So what does that tell me............don't contact him on Facebook. Let him make the first move. You don't even know him well enough to know what to say !!!

Just message him on fb saying hello how is he. You will be able to tell by the tone of his responses whether or not he is interested. Simple!
