Hi all probably just venting here more than anything but feel like I got stiffed by my insurance company.

Cut a long story short just found out gonna be a dad.needed a new place so rented a van,van company offered their own insurance to me but wanted to charge €40. So rang my insurance company and they did it for me for me 20 and send out a letter to pay within 10 days.

So moved on the 13th December had all the crap of moving getting stuff for baby and xmas, stupid me forgot all bout 20 to insurance until today.rang them straight away only to be told my policy has been cancelled since the 23rd December.

They told me they sent out a letter to pay the money by registered post but not me or my partner signed anything or got the little slip to say there was something in the holding office.
In fact I have not even got the letter to say that my policy has been cancelled.

Now they want me to pay a cancellation fee of 40 which I am really miffed about.

Also they want me to start a new policy at €90 more than I originally paid in September.

This ever happened to anyone before.

Ps don't know if I am able to name company in question

If it was sent by registered post there'd be a tracking number, ask them for it and check it's location.

Is it possible they sent it to your old address?

You'll probably have to suck it up and pay out the €130 to be honest if you want to get your insurance reinstated.
