Keep a float of €2k handy, expensive things go wrong with them depending on the engine.

I'd tell them to dream on at that price. You will buy a similar year Passat CC for that sort of money:

Regular models here asking €15k before any negotiations:

€17500 is mad money. We sold a 2010 Highline Bluemotion for similar money to that just before Christmas.

Was just going to say I could sell you a 2010 highline bluemotion tdi for a little more than 17500.

I've imported 2009's 1.6 Bluemotion passats, vrt'd them and sold them for €17,500 ................that was 2 YEARS AGO!

    that price is mental.....

re; the 1.6's, they're a grand car, nothing special tho', bit gutless, but frugal, low tax etc, and a decently screwed together and the prople i've supplied them too have encountered no issues.

    A 4 year old passat for 17.5k.
A new one for about 27k looks like a bargain against that pricing.

If it's being sold by a certain dealer with fields of used cars then I'm not that surprised by that price.
