Agere System HDA Modem

Hi, I have a Compaq 610 laptop running on Vista. I notice when in programmes that there is one called Agere System HDA Modem which is taking up a whopping 16GB. Is it ok to remove this as I believe it is only needed if you are on dial-up? Thanks
