A Nice Limerick Story for a Change

It's very easy for us not living in Limerick to take the piss out of the place. I have been a visitor over the years and I never met anything other than nice people there. And the city has improved a lot in the last decade even with the bad press.

So it's nice in these times of depression to see a story like this. Reminds us that there is always something to look forward and reasons to support your community when nobody else does.

This could be for Limerick what Shamrock Rovers were for Tallaght.

I though you were going to say there was only one stabbing in limerick last night.

Shamrock rovers haven't done much for tallaght either really.

unlike Thomas Davis GAA club they did not try to impose a sporting aparthide on the area.

The GAA showed their true colours with that disgusting saga.

    and recently with Sean Quinn.

Absolute **** and bigots who are only inclusive as long as someone is writing them cheques.

I started out in college down there. My experience of the city when living there was nothing but positive. I enjoyed it's nightlife and always found the people pleasant. It definitely gets a bad rap alright, it shows you the damage a couple of scumbag families and their cronies can do to the image of an area.

Same for me. Even when I rented a house in Moyross at the height of the gangland hysteria, nothing but nice people around me.

Limerick is a much nicer and friendlier city than Dublin!Anyone that is knowledgeable about the city can see through all that Dublin based media propaganda.I have always felt safe in the city centre.Limerick has everything you'd want from a city and it has less footfall in the city centre than the other cities. If they could sort out the top of O'Connell Street it would be great.Wasn't there supposed to be a shopping centre on the site where all that boarding is?It's also a pity to see the old Dunnes Stores on Sarsfield Street left abandoned and the area around the bus station could also be nicer. The city council did a great job though with that stretch from Bedford Row to the end of Thomas Street.O'Mahonys is one of the best bookshops in the country and the Texas Steakout and Hamptons are just two of Limericks many excellent restaurants.Outside of Cork and Waterford i actually think Limerick is the nicest city in the country. It's certainly one of the friendliest cities that i have ever visited.

I'm delighted that Limerick are back in the Premier and I hope that it goes well for them. They're a decent bunch down there and I'd love to see them get the support that they deserve.
There's been a lot of work going on behind the scenes there as well as in the local community and hopefully it will all pay off for them in the future.

Hopefully I'll get to Thomond for the first game of the season - but it won't be Limerick that I'll be shouting for that day!!
