Something like this is a start.

    Item|Price
    ASRock B75 Pro3-M, Sockel 1155, mATX|€59.84
    BitFenix Merc Alpha|€32.04
    WD Caviar Blue 1TB 6Gb's|€64.26
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W|€42.35
    Intel Core i3-3225 Box, LGA1155|€118.47
    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit (SB-Version)|€82.88
    ASUS PCE-N15|€14.90
    Logitech X-140 2.0 PC Lautsprechersystem|€22.55
    8GB G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€31.40
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€487.68

It's not much good for gaming except for older titles and maybe some newer games at low graphics settings as it's only got onboard graphics.

If gaming was more important you could go with an AMD APU build instead as it will give you better GPU performance.

Only thing I would suggest with this build is you could try get an SSD into the build, but that will be a tight squeeze with your budget.

Would you be interested in second hand parts? I have some that I'm poised to post on adverts.ie if you're interested. I can post them up here if you like so the others can guide you. I have a CPU, mobo, 4 GB RAM and maybe a HDD (I have to confirm it works first).

This will free up a lot of your budget.

If gaming is essential, drop the i3 in favour of this, use the extra money to buy this. The G860 is a good CPU and perfect for budget gaming, I've the older G620 and am running Battlefield 3 @ Ultra at 1920x1080 on 32 man servers....64 man servers are beyond it admittedly but it gives you a good idea. The G860 is 400mhz faster at stock.

    Item|Price
AMD A10 5800K Black Edition mit AMD Radeon HD 7660D Grafikeinheit, Box, FM2|€112.68
    ASRock FM2A75 Pro4-M, FM2, mATX|€61.86
    8GB-Kit G.Skill Ares PC3-12800U CL9-9-9-24|€40.72
FRACTAL DESIGN Gehäuse Core 1000 black|€36.29
    ASUS DRW-24B5ST Retail|€21.78
    Crucial M4 128GB SSD 6,4cm (2,5")|€95.54
    WD Caviar Green 1TB, SATA 6Gb/s (WD10EZRX)|€63.25
    Corsair Builder Serie CX430 V3 Non-Modular 80+ Bronze, 430 Watt|€40.13
    TP-Link TL-PA411 Starter Kit|€39.00
    Logitech Speaker System Z323|€35.15
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€565.39

I know that it is a bit of a stretch, but to me it's worth it.

    A few things:
    • Very good CPU/GPU combo with AMD's A10 APU
    • Nice, quiet case (have it myself)
    • 128GB SSD for very fast bootup. and opening of programs, and general snappiness really
    • No Windows, as I think some Linux distro like Mint would suit this build better. With Steam for Linux gaming should be ok, too!
    • Good speaker system
    • Homeplugs instead of a wireless card. If you don't know what homeplugs are, they're basically two plugs you plug in to your sockets; One at the computer end, and one at the modem end. An ethernet cable is then plugged in on each side and the house's electrical wiring is used to transfer the data. It's virtually the same quality as a normal ethernet cable!

    BitFenix Merc Alpha €34.00
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W €42.28
    ASUS M5A78L LE, Sockel AM3+, ATX €50.15
    AMD Phenom II X4 945 Box €68,37
    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9 €28.33
    WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 3 6Gb/s €53.54
    MSI R7770-PMD1GD5, 1024MB DDR5, PCI-Express €101.93
    Samsung SH-118AB DVD-RW €13.33
    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit (SB-Version) €82.88
    Shipping €18.99

    Total €493.80

Good PC that will play any game on ultra settings or very close to it. I'd leave the speakers and stuff to a later date. Also could splash an extra 20 on AMD Phenom X4 965 as its much easier to overclock.

This is the best value by far for a 500 quid PC. Id recommend the X4 965 to bring it up to around 510

He'd definitely be better off going for weaker CPU and dedicated graphics 7750 or 7770 if he can afford it than using the A10.

... you're not trolling or anything, are you? I know its €75 over budget but it sounds like you're just trying to get a reaction.

I mean, all the parts represent the best value for money in their respective segments and it'll do everything that the OP wants. There is of course wiggle room with the SSD/HDD, if you take one of them out you've got it within budget.

What would you recommend? Bestow upon me your genius, if you will :D.

I did a build up above for 500 including Windows which represents best value for money.
For 565 + 82 for windows which is 664 he could get a decent i5 build. I'm not trolling, just like seen people getting value for money.

I'm sorry but you're coming across to me as a bit of a tool, talking crap about builds put up solely to help someone without giving proper reasons as to why they're not very good isn't constructive at all.

The requirements for the build appear to me to be a bit of a home pc/ media computer (the likes of YT, and streaming, along with music/photos/video viewing).

    So...

I compiled a selection of parts that would suit the needs the most, which in my opinion would be an A10. The gaming side could be handled easily with the 7660d, and both CPU and GPU can be overclocked.

I have an SSD in there, along with a HDD to get the best of both worlds. Possibly excessive I will admit, but probably going to be needed in the future anyway.

Everything else though is perfectly reasonable and I stand by my choices :).

Also, you forgot to throw in speakers nad whatever internet connectivity choice you want. Have you used homeplugs before? There's no reason to get a wireless card when you can get one of those.

He also said he wanted to game on the computer and a 7660d isn't a good card at all? I shouldn't have said your build is terrible. Apologies. I just don't like people overpaying for things when he could have getting an i5 build with a decent graphics card for the same price!

Don't get an SSD, it will severely take away from the build and not really needed. Its nice to have but will severly deplete the system budget wise. The i5 is one the best CPU's at the moment and won't be outdated for years on end. Also a good graphics card in the build for gaming. Have the wireless card and speakers in the build as well. SSD can always be added down the line if really needed
