    Hi,

    Would anybody have any idea as to how much a new gearbox would cost for a 2010 skoda octavia 1.2 pet. auto.

    Thanks in advance,

    M.

    Hi,

    It's DSG.

    Thanks,

    Goodwill as the car isn't long out of warranty?

    A lot. I'd be contacting Skoda, two years is crap for even a DSG.

    Surely you'd be looking at a goodwill contribution from Skoda, unless it's abuse (very hard to prove) or the mileage is absolutely sky high - can't be too long out of warranty?

    They'd be lucky.

    VAG made a recall of DSG cars in the states, and increased the warranty in a few other countries, but won't even acknowledge them in this country.

    Unless there is mega mileage or something dodgy in the cars past I'd be very surprised if it's not considered.

    Several grand.

    I know they can be expensive but how could it be several grand?

    Hi all,

    Thanks for all the replies. Its not my car - my neighbours were looking at buying one that seemed cheap enough to them. I volunteered to check it out as they can't use the internet.

    Many thanks again,

    M.

    That's what they cost. Google it, plenty of people getting quotes from dealers of several grand for a new DSG gearbox.

    So Google throws up all sorts of figures, didn't see anything as high as €7K, would be interested in the actual cost in €.

    £ 1899.63 + Vat
    $ 2509.12
    $ 5000.00

    Thanks OSI but I think most people associate the phrase 'several' as a good deal more then 2, despite what the dictionary may tell you. :)

    Now, several posts later, back on topic.

    Dsg box in tdi 05 octavia cost my friend 3100 plus labour in 2008 as no one in ireland would get involved at that time, but i think i read somewhere here someone in dublin is working on them now.

    Car did have 230000kms on it, and wouldnt have been minded at all though.

    I saw a 2010 octavia 1.2 for sale needing gearbox. Must be the one the op is looking at.
