Ryanair Credit Card Fees Have Been Virtually Eliminated??

    Hi All,

I have just booked a Ryanair return flight for myself. I was expecting to be charged a €12 credit card fee (€6 each way), but ended up being charged a total credit card fee of €0.88 for the return flight.

If I have missed something, feel free to correct me. Otherwise, it looks like Ryanair have virtually got rid of their large credit card fees.

Hope someone finds this of interest.

What card did you book with?

Sounds more like an error on their website....fair play to you if you get away with it...more money for your trip!!

Regulators have been cracking down on companies which use flat rate credit card fees and have been pushing for the introduction of a percentage rate which reflects the actual cost to use the visa/mc/etc system.

I know the rates are usually around 1.5%, so you should be able to work out if this is the reason for your 88c charge

They added them to your fare. Some ruling from UK competition office.

See this story for the explanation: Link
2% fee is currently in addition to the €6 admin fee which is now included in the first price you see - however at the end of this month the €6 admin fee will disappear but in reality just be added to the basic fare - long story short you're no better off than you were - in fact realistically you're down 88c. The only way to avoid the 2% charge in the future will be to use a debit card to pay.

The flight was €44 and I used a standard credit card.

In addition, Ryanair’s €6/£6 admin fee (which covers costs associated with Ryanair’s website, www.ryanair.com) will apply to all new bookings made from 30 November, except those bookings made using a Ryanair Cash Passport in Ireland, Germany and Spain, where admin fees can be avoided until 1 February, 15 February and 21 March 2013, respectively.

So its just a renaming of charges meaning your total fare is 88c more expensive than it would have been before this change
