Diseqc and general advice

Hi all, I currently have a working single LNB dish on the house pointing at astra 28.2e. Works great in the living room connected to a Vu+ Duo, but I would like to swap the LNB for an Octo (or quad) so that I can do recording there and also get a feed into the bedroom TV for watching Freesat plus Freeview.

Easier to look at a diagram so there are a couple of questions as outlined in orange in the image...

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I can't see any reason for your setup to include a Diseqc switch. A Diseqc switch is normally used when you wish to switch between satellite positions e.g. Astra 28E and Hotbird 13E.

Basically there's only a single cable from the dish into the house so read online that a weather proof DiSEqC outside should do the trick to get multiple tuners inside without having to start drilling bigger holes. Am I right?

+1 on what Apogee has said.
Diseqc is usually for switching between sat positions.
What you are after is I presume watch/record for the Vu+ in the sitting room?
And a separate feed for the freesat TV in the bedroom?
This requires 3 feeds down from your proposed Octo LNB, 1 to tuner A, 1 to tuner B on the Vu+ and 1 to the Bedroom TV(a quad will do, but the Octo allows plenty of room for adding extra boxes)
Adding a diseqc switch in this type of setup gains you nothing and just adds complexity.

    No, you are wrong unfortunately.
A diseqc will allow multiple satellite positions/LNBS to be added to a single tuner, but only 1 satellite can be active at any time.
It will not enable multiple tuners. To allow multiple tuners you need multiple feeds.(or a quattro LNB and a multiswitch feeding the receivers which is expensive and frankly overkill for what you are after, aswell as needing plenty of technical knowledge and new cabling aswell)
Swap the LNB and run new cable is the easiest and by far cheapest and DIYer friendly option

Great thanks guys. I'm a noob at this satellite stuff, but have learned a lot from the forums. I'll get the new LNB and get the extra wires running. Thanks a mil.

Just trying to be helpful, I find this guy to be about the cheapest in Ireland for all sat stuff, LNBs, Dishs, Diseqc etc
