Interview advice - Sales

Hi all, not sure if this is the correct forum to be posting such a thread, but figured it was the most suitable that I could see.

I have an interview tomorrow morning for a sales position (my first ever proper interview) and have a question I reckon might be thrown in my direction that I have an idea how to respond to, but can't get a clear cut professional answer for.

How would you deal with a valued client that has gone cold (not answering/returning calls and/or emails)?

Also, a lot of my searches throw up articles that recommend that I try to arrange a follow up meeting at the end of the interview, is this common practice? Or would it be considered a bit too pushy, or even cheeky?

    Thanks,
    Colm

Hi colm, re: trying to arrange a follow up meeting - generally I would tell the interviewer at the end that you'd be interested in progressing and ask what the next steps would be. If a client goes cold I'd just go to another person in the organisation above your contact and say you're just looking to catch up with x and have been unable to reach them. You could also attach a read receipt to an email and when you get the delivery report you know they're at their desk so ring straight away.

Also if the interview goes well it's no harm to be a bit cheeky when it's a sales position and asking what their thoughts are, I look favourably on this!
