I use ebay a lot for car parts. Just make sure to research before you buy.

    http://www.somora.ie

They seem to have a good website. I only just found them this morning looking for an indicator repeater for the Golf.

never used em, but see one of their vans regularly enough (I must be an advertisers dream..)

    www.autocare.ie

sites a bit of a pain for just browsing though - having to enter a reg/model/year etc

Just did a test search for a specific Bosch fuel pump - €246 to Micks Garage's €155.10, and €110 on ebay.

    Ouch.

    +1 on that.

I've got bits and bobs for fvck all from there. Only problem is the individual breakers aren't the best at updating their stock.

They can be, but get a price anyway so you know where you stand.

Google the part number too, you might get lucky.

+1 on ebay. Got all my 3 series bits and bobs there, from upgraded chrome grille, to replacement wish-bone. Try get new parts if you need bits under the car. The UK ones can be really badly corroded.

Is there some secret I don't know about in dealing with breakers yards? I called one fella a couple of times and he said (both times) I'll check and ring you back - he never rings back, even though he said he'd ring to let me know either way. The next fella told me he had the part, no problem, I said it has a specific part number and he says phone me back tomorrow and we'll check, do you want the part number I asked, no - phone me tomorrow. I called him the next day, which vent flap controller do you want? I gave him the part number, he didn't have it but tells me he has the part with D after it and then tells me it's the same! I had checked this already and there are about 5 different flap motors and they are all different: the part number with no letter and then then part with A, B, C or D.
From my dealings with these guys, they don't seem to care for the customers, are rude, disorganised and if you want to get the part you want you either need to be related to them or be willing to offer them your sister/wife/mother for sexual favours.
There is an opportunity out there for someone to provide a service where you tell them the part you want and they go and chase the breakers for you.

That does seem to be the case with most breakers here; which is probably why a well-organised operation like Traynor's can take their business out from under their noses.

    I'd forgotten about Traynors
