Hi folks, quick question for you.

Myself and the girlfriend are planning a decent holiday this year after the last couple of years of holidays have been pretty basic and boring due to work commitments etc.

We are going to take 3 weeks and go to either Central America (Fly into Mexico then go to Belize and finally Guatemala and fly home from there or go for a 3 week holiday in Thailand.

We will be leaving in July so I know both places might have iffy weather at that time of year but we are ok with that.

It will be a backpack type holidy with no major frills but would like the odd nice hotel etc.

Neither of us has been to either place before so not sure what lies ahead. Is Central America dangerous?

    Anyone got any thoughts?

    Cheers in advance

Hi, I was in Mexico many years ago on a package hol it was grand food and people lovely, would love to go back but when you compare the prices to Thailand, your € goes further in Thailand, were heading back to vietnam in march for 6 weeks again, have a look at this country it's way cheaper than Thailand, the food and people are fantastic and southern vietnam will be hot in July, emirates fly dublin-dubai-ho chi minh for €720 at the mo and are great airline. But if not vietnam then Thailand I would prefer over Central America ... Hope this helps

Thanks very much for the reply mate.

I will sit down with herself and take a look at Vietnam and see what she makes of it. It hadn't even crossed our minds but will certainly take a look now. The further our € go the better!
