Tubeless tyres over tyres with tubes

Anyone racing on tubeless tyres rather than regular tyre/tubes or Tubular tyres? I've heard that they can run flat. Is that true? So if you get a flat in a race, you can at least get around to where you parked your car. Also they run smoother and reduce weight. Worth it?

    Regards

I've toyed with the idea of running tubeless. I run the mtb tubeless and it's great. Definitely consider it for commuting but the weightsaving isn't there for road racing.
Off road you can run pretty much any tyre, however on road the tubeless tyres need stronger sidewalls negating the weight of thee lack of a tube.
As for cycling back to the car on the rim, I wouldn'tdo it on the mtb nnever mind the road bike wheels.
Personally having switched to veloflexes I would consider them (with latex tubes) to be the closest thing to tubulars for smoothness, comfort and road feel.
For a different view, Mark in the club raced this year on tubeless.
