Just after finishing work so i have to head down to the welfare this week to get everything sorted with them, there is a course in the gaiety school of acting that goes on for a year, its 1000e paid up front.

Would the welfare be willing to pay money towards this with me?

Has anyone ever went through this before? Any advice would be great.

Go have a meeting with FAS and they'll tell you if the course is eligible and how much money can be contributed (I think I was told €350 before but don't quote me on that).

I've gone down that road before but the course I wan't to do wasn't on their approved list (wasn't a fetac cert) so I was told no. I was also quizzed by the woman as to how I thought the course would improve my job prospects (it was an art course) so expect that with acting!

Still, all you can do is ask.
