Get a letter from the dr just to be sure.

Get a letter from your doc, also carry enough in your hand luggage to cover you for a few days if your bag goes astray. Ask your doctor to include the generic as well as the brand name. Will make life easier if you need to get the meds replaced in another country.

    Enjoy the hols!

I have to carry meds too. if theyre in their original boxes and packets you should be fine. I don't think my bags have even ever been searched before.
I always carry a GP letter just in case though.
TIP! bring a few days worth of meds in a pill box in your hand luggage just incase your cases get lost. x

Certain Medications such as codeine are illegal in the Middle East so just beware that to bring your prescriptions if you are transiting through one of those countries such as the U.A.E or Qatar.

I always carry all my required medications in my carry on luggage.

I may put spares in the hold luggage but everything that I'm going to need for the duration of the trip never leaves my carry on bag. Needles, gels, glass vials of liquid, pills, various sharps, batteries, electronic devices that are permanently attached to my person and I'm sure there is something else I'm not listing...but basically pretty much any medication that you need to take with you is perfectly fine on the plane and going through security.

I have learnt my lesson and now carry all medication, needles etc now in my hand luggage. Was travelling stand by to the US and got as far as New York. My bags went forward to my destination but I was stuck in New York for 2 days. I had to beg a pharmacist there to give me a box of needles. He would not accept a faxed copy of my prescription but bent the rules for me when he could see the stress I was under. Just as well as finally when I arrived in Atlanta, one of my bags was missing which of course had all my medical goods in it..

Important too to bear in mind that some of these meds are OTC (over-the-counter) here, but completely illegal in some other countries.
Solpadiene can be bought here with no prescription, for example, but could land you in a jail cell in Saudi Arabia.
So, either leave it at home or make sure that your doctor includes everything you want to bring with you on the letter/prescription, even if it's something that's OTC in Ireland.
