I purchased an ebook before I had a Kindle, and I had to download and install "Amazon Kindle" it's a free reader for the PC.
Grand, but now i have an actual Kindle... so how can I get that ebook onto it?

Now that i've purchased it for Kindle PC... does that mean I cannot exchange it for the ebook for the reader?

You would have set up a kindle profile when setting up on your PC, which is linked to your email address. You need to now setup your Kindle ereader with the profile, so basically linking your account to the ereader. From here you can sync books onto the ereader from your purchased ebooks.

All the ebooks you have purchased will be listed under 'Manage your Kindle' on your Amazon account. You can choose to deliver them to your Kindle wirelessly or you can transfer them via the USB lead which came with your Kindle.
