Irish & EU IP Law for the Layman (me)

This is probably a big ask but is there such a thing as a "Patent Law for Dummies" type book? I'm the dummy BTW.

I want to be able to frame a patent application, search for other patents by status and if possible, progress applications personally and then take them through licensing to industrialisation.

I have no wish to be a patent agent or apprentice attorney but I want to be able to calibrate the progress of my inventions.

I have two / three ideas that look likely to be starters, if not ultimately runners, and no money to spend on expensive hired help at the start.

One idea in particular already has a very detailed Specification which refers to new technologies (which also contain IP and will be subject to patent applications in their own right) needed to manufacture a product (or more correctly a range of products). I believe the product and the technologies advance the state of the art in their respective fields (novelty) and have not been patented before.

    Any suggestions appreciated.
