Blood in the Milk

Have a freshly calved Charlie cow. She has plenty of milk and the calf is only able to drain on tit at the moment so I have milked her out. I noticed that the milk from her is very pink at the moment like as if its mixed with blood.
The calf is doing fine now but would this milk be bad for the calf??

Not at all bad for the calf, prob a burst blood vessle in the quarter. The auld lad here reckons its a sign of a real good milker

I had a cow with it, a while back too. A very milky cow. She only had it in one quarter. It went in time. No harm really.

Pink milk is a sign of a good milker, often had them,if anyone tells ya it could be mastitis, for example a vet telling my neighbour, tell them there talking ....

I pulled the calf off the cow today. I`m not happy with the milk, its very pink now and the calf isnt too keen on feeding.
Better to be safe than sorry, Maverick for the calf from now on till I get the cow sorted :(

    Are all 4 quarters pink?

I've see the odd one up and down but I dont recall ever seeing a cow pink in all quarters. In relation to the degree of pinkness, we had a Hex cow that one quarter was more like blood and she came fine.
Is the calf getting a drag of milk when you're not around by any chance?

make sure you keep your cow milked lad or you could end up with worst than pink , milk . the milk will do the calf no harm
