    Hi everybody...
I am not really a fitness person but I was doing a lot of sport few years ago

Anyway.. I started to go to the gym for few months, but now for many reasons I can't.
I am also raising a puppy dog that needs a lot of attentions :P

I was thinking to buy some equipment for home, for aerobic exercises, cardio.. how is called..
A rowing machine or an exercise bike maybe?

What you think would be better to start with?
I don't love the bike and maybe I prefer the rowing.. but I am not an expert..

I am female, 31 years old, tall, average weight (but need to loose few kg as I stopped smoking and gained some weigh grrrr).

I don't want to spend crazy money but I have seen entry level machines on amazon not crazy expensive.

    Any advice appreciated.

    THanks!!

ditch the cardio equipment - waste of money
all you need is a skipping rope (it doesn't break down)

If I were getting stuff I'd buy this
    1 Foam Roller
    2 Dumbbells and some plates
    3 Skipping rope
    4 Swiss ball
    5 Medicine Ball (3kg)
    6 Adjustable Bench

10.) sort diet out if you want to lose weight. This should be no 1.

yeah it's bit for the weight but also to keep myself a bit "fit"

why you say that is wasting money?
I like the rowing machine idea and many people are using in the gym?
(not polemic, I am trying to understand)
    tahnks

not everyone has space or a well built doorway for pullup bar, same with gym rings

cardio equipment - rower, threadmill, bike, cross trainer will be bought used for a few months then will start to gather dust
seriously, invest in a decent pair of runners and go out jogging if that is the route you want to go

to lose weight you need to sort out diet, then train hard. Getting the things numbered 1 - 10 on this thread and using them 2-3 times a week as part of a circuit training will help to get you fit

Gotta use some imagination 100 places to do pullups

I adapted an old swing with a Steel Rebar and some pipe insulating foam for pullups. works great!

    thanks for all the advices!

    1 - Pull-up bar
    2 - Gym rings (1+2: http://i.imgur.com/reSU0.jpg )
    3 - Exercise (yoga) mat
    4 - Foam roller

    That's it! :)

See this program http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056185716 - it starts very easy and surely you can do step 1 for pull-ups and push-ups.

For cardio (with a bit of strength) - if you have iPhone / Android phone, see this free app http://www.nike.com/us/en_us/c/womens-training/apps/nike-training-club - for most you don't need any equipment.

I wonder how many 31 year old women in modern Ireland can do pull ups?

Would the pull up bar actually be used?

    OP,
    I'd get
    1. Rowing machine
    2. Kettle bells - 8kg, 12kg & 16kg to start
    3. Medicine ball - 3kg & 5kg
    4. Exercise mat
    5. Dumb bells
    6. Foam roller
    7. Resistance band(s)

Could do a hell of a lot with that.

    .

    Exactly, not enough.
Start with negative pullups and do a progression.
    Same thing goes for pushups.

Not me for sure... I've never been able even when I was practicing athletic or basketball (ehm, few years ago)
And I don't know if I am in the wrong forum but I admit that I am a bit scared :D
    ehehehe

I think I will start skipping rope and maybe rowing machine and then when I will be reeeeally motivated adding the other things ....

sorry don't be mad at me, don't want to waste your time... just a lazy beginner :S

Its going to depend on your budget. Any rowing machine you get for less than 500 euro, and especially 100e, is likely to break/ give a jerky resistance etc. I'd say 200 plus for a bike, which will be less effective than rowing/running

weight is 80% diet and 20 exercise. Can you go running (couch to 5k plan) or walking? Add a pilates plan to that (pick up a DVD, mat and some basic equipment off amazon for less than 100e)
