[Directions] IFSC to Park West

    Hey,

I'm moving to the IFSC (Mayor Sq Luas stop) soon and work in Park West. I was wondering if anyone on here does the same commute?

I know there is an option of a bus from Aston quay, but it is supposed to be a long trek by road due to traffic.

One route that appeals to me is getting the Luas to Heuston and then getting the train from Heuston to Park West. However, I'm not sure if there is a Luas/Irish Rail combo annual combo ticket? Would really appreciate any advice on whether taking that route is ticketable? The only option I can see is getting an annual ticket which includes Dublin Bus, IR as far as Celbridge and a Luas ticket as far as Tallaght - surely there's more flexibility than that?

    Any help is really appreicated.

    Thanks,

    Mark

Take the 151. It runs from the Docklands and will take you to Nangor Road which is about a 5/10 minute walk depending on what part of Park West you're in.

The 151 stops at Docklands Station outbound and stops along North Wall Quay inbound.

Other options involve taking a Luas to Heuston and change to a commuter train to Parkwest. The 79A also runs to Parkwest but is not too frequent and not as direct as the 151.

Good luck with the move. Maybe try a few different trips and see which works best. If you can avail of a tax saver ticket from your employer you'll save a lot on travel costs.

Thanks! That looks pretty great but it takes up to an hour on the bus by the looks of things, although perhaps the traffic leaving the city centre wouldn't be so bad in the mornings. I'll definitely try it out - much appreciated :)

Another alternative is Luas to Kylemore and then walk or get the shuttle bus

It will depend on where in Park West.

The problem in the morning is the poor outbound service from Heuston, which mean the bus is often better.

Note that Rambler and monthly/annual Dublin Bus tickets are valid on Airlink: http://dublinbus.ie/en/Fares--Tickets/Tickets/2-Journey-Daily-Weekly/ - the problem may be drivers refusing to pick you up in the city centre going westbound.

For monthly/annual Dublin Bus tickets you can get any combination of bus / tram / rail. www.taxsaver.ie

Thanks for the link, great site.

Re: annual tickets,it doesn't seem possible to buy an annual Luas/Rail commuter ticket annually, only monthly. Odd if true!

You would probably need to talk to the Tax Saver office in Irish Rail.

I'd disagree with that - 79A terminates right in parkWest (beside the Accent hotel) - the nearest 151 bus stop to Parkwest is opposite Diageo's.

If you are in the offices close to the canal the 151 might possibly be closer, otherwise the 79A. Mind you, the 151 is a 'nicer' bus then the 79A which attracts a some ner-do-wells's, mainly after dark.

Train and bus is an option also - the number 90 + train would get you there and back. The last train before 9am arrives into Parkwest station at 08:45 - then a 5 minutes walk to the offices.

The AMC private bus is the fastest of all - 30 minutes from Aston Quay to the information centre at Parkwest.
