Advice on Car Models

    Hi,

I've just returned to Ireland and am looking for a new car, and hoping somebody can help with model suggestions. Am looking for a small 5-door model, suitable for use around the city (but probably not everyday), weekend trips to the south-west and west and ability to put hiking gear into the boot. I'd like to spend 5-7k (preferably around 5k) and I'd like the car to last a few years.

So far I've considered the Toyota Avensis, Mazda 3, Polo or Golf, however I've never owned any of these. Any advice?

    Thanks!

Hi you would be grand with a Toyota Avensis, Corolla or Auris. VW Golf. Ford Mondeo, Focus. Skoda Octavia, Fabia. I find all above very good reliable cars so you have a good choice

I would recommend the Octavia there are supposed to be a great all round car and if your not doing much mileage you should be able to pick up a grand 05-06 model for around 5k if not under, try www.donedeal.ie

The boot in the polo is not very big so that might not be suitable. Also the Toyota Avensis is a much bugger and more expensive car than any of the others on your list.
I would be looking at a Skoda Octavia or Ford Focus as well.

If the Astra is too small,

    Skoda Octavia,

    1.4,
    74,000 miles,
    €6,100
