Wanted: Decent entry level road bike

I'm looking for a decent entry level roadie suitable for climbing hills, narrowly avoiding pot holes, generally poor road conditions so minimal vibrations. Any unwanted Xmas presents would be gratefully received!

Without getting into the nitty gritty of inner leg length etc, a medium sized frame (50-54cm) would suit. I'm 5"6, female.

I've been looking at Giant Defy 2 (2009/10 models pre-Tiagra and with Mavic rims), followed by Specialized Alez or Lapierre Audacio. I know nothing about the Lapierre but all seem suitable but most of the ads on Donedeal etc are for Large frames. I've accepted I would be exceptionally lucky to find a carbon frame for my budget but you never know your luck.

I'd also like tri-bars but can source and fit them myself if the seller hasn't already. I don't really have need for a triple so a compact would be awesome, but again, not too fussy.

Budget: around €500 but would consider stretching for the right bike or even a package/accessories (eg. shoes size EURO 40, tri-bars, clothing, but excluding helmet), up to 700.

I'm in the Galway area but could travel as far as Dublin for viewings.

Any help would be much appreciated! Please post photos. I got a turbo trainer for Xmas so keen to actually use it until the weather fines up!

    Hi Ciarano and Zip,

Thank you both very much for your responses. Both of your bikes are beautiful and do fit my spec, although outside my price bracket. I actually got lucky over the weekend and found a 2010 Bianchi via Nirone 7 coast-to-coast, at the lower end of my budget. She's practically brand new with only a half dozen rides on the clock. Very happy with myself and can't wait to take her out for a spin!

I am still chasing clip pedals, size EUR 40 shoes and tri bars if you have either of those?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Roch1e,
I have a set of clip on tri bars (BBB make) that I bought during the summer. I just counted up and I only used them 5 times. Pads etc as new. I can email you pics of them if you're interested but it'll be tomorrow. Paid just over €70 for them so €50 if you're interested.
