Im heading to Leopardstown on Saturday for a family day out, Im not a gambler or really into horse racing but Im sure we will have a good day out.
We will be betting on the races and would be nice to get a couple of winners, my mother is getting on in years and this is a special day out for her as she always wanted to go to the races, would be great if she backed a winner or two.

Can anyone give some tips for Saturday's races ?

Enjoy the day, bring warm clothes as it will be cold even if you think it won't. Saturdays racing is not great, stick to the tote and bet each way... some other boys may have tips but it's probably the hardest days racing of the 4 xmas days.. enjoy..

Sounds like a lovely plan for a day out, I do hope your mother enjoys the day and that the rain stays away, some of my best days have been at the races with my dad.

As mentioned tomorrow's card looks very difficult but realistically there are no easy ones.

For every day I've gone racing if I followed the bits below I'd have had as much fun and made as little, lost less overall :)

    - Decide how much you want to bet overall
    - divide that by 7 (or 6 if you intend not staying for the last) and invest in each race equally, if you have no real interest in racing it's the way to go imo
    - if you have a winner do splash the winnings on the next race if so inclined
    - by all means make your selections based on relatives names, colour of jockeys shirt etc :)
    - For whatever reason the selections given in the racecards are not bad really, there should be a winner or two in there :)

Bring tissues, a day at the races in winter and most noses start running :pac:

But you are probably best going on gut feeling tomorrow, CLONDAW KAEMPFER @ the 2:45 Newbury might be worth throwing a few on to protect your pocket @ leopardstown.

That sounds like what will happen tomorrow, she will pick something with a catchy name or nice colour, would be nice if she get even one winner. Thanks.

I could think of a few easier ones than backing CK! He still has to beat TDS in tht race..don't get me wrong I'm backing CK..but i don't think it's straight forwad

Nothing is, but I think it will take a lot to beat him, it is races like this the complete outsider is worth putting a few quid on (for reasons I can not speak of here)

but the field is to small to even do that, or is it?

Because of the quality of te race? I'm borderline considering CK for the Neptune

I think there is only 5 in the field
