Hey guys, So I bought a PC from adverts in August and got a new ssd for christmas so I put windows on it but The key I entered does not have correct liscencing for multiple pcs so I'm looking to buy a new win 7 key... Does this site seem legit? http://www.windows7keyprofessional.com/

They seem to give refunds and as you know with paypal you can pull back your payment. Look forward to a reply, Cheers!

What version is the one you bought on Adverts? Is it Window7 home Premium 64 OEM? You'll need to install the same version the Key is tied to. Then you simply ring a Microsoft number, and deal with a computer auto-prompter.. You select the option that you're reinstalling on the same computer, and then it reads out long series of activation codes you enter.

I think the problem was that the key was tied to windows 7 ultimate and I installed windows 7 ultimate SP1.. It was Windows 7 Ultimate 64 OEM.

If it looks too good to be true, it usually is, and by god, those prices are way too low. So do not buy from there!

Simple thing. Put in old hard drive. Go into windows. Run the Magic Jellybean keyfinder from http://majorgeeks.com/Magical_Jelly_Bean_Keyfinder_d2612.html and run it. Save the serial to a TXT file on a USB drive, and also write out the CD key onto a piece of paper.

Turn off PC, put in new SSD, install Windows, and use the CD key which you now have. You should have no problems.

You should have no problem changing a hard drive and keeping a windows key, I think you can even call Microsoft to help you reactivate.

However an alarming amount of the PCs sold on adverts have pirate copies of windows.
I have been on the helpdesk for adverts and reported many listings, it seems no matter how many times I report offending users they get to keep their account.

Let us know if the key works or if you were sold a pirate copy. I'm hoping that even I keep reporting piracy they will eventually do something.
It's extremely unfair on the sellers who are legitimate.

If you have a genuine key and it won't activate just give Microsoft a ring and they should be able to sort it out for you.

Receiving Windows updates being sweet feck all. Ring MS, and say that your reinstalling Windows on a new disk, but it's not letting you activate it, and they'll either help you through the process or not. If it is a pirate copy, and you bought the machine thinking it was legit, make sure you inform MS on who you got the machine off. As tuxy has said, a few of us are noticing new PC's with dodgy versions of Windows being sold with them.

    Slightly OT:

Keyfinders like magic jelly bean don't work with MSDNAA licenses, going nuts trying to find the hard copies :/

Even more off topic. Would you have ever had hard copies of those licences unless of course you printed them off from the website?
