I was thinking of building a pc now in the new year for the first time. I've spec'd up a build myself but I was wondering what any of you guys would recommend.

1. What is your budget? €600 to €1100

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming (Skyrim, Metro 2033, most new and upcoming games)

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

5. Do you need a monitor? No but might upgrade down the line

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Nope

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Possible in the future

8. How can you pay? Credit card, Laser or PayPal

9. When are you purchasing? Next few months, no rush

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? No need

I was also wondering if anywhere assembled machines to spec for a decent price? Sorry if I mucked anything up lads

That looks pretty great, thank you for the help. I was just wondering about one thing, when I tried my own build I went to the Gigabyte 660 ti, was wondering if you know it it stacks up against the 7950 you have on there? I also have no problem going at it myself with regards to building it, just a bit shaky in case I balls something up ha

Well that's real can of worms. We could fill pages talking about that.

The 660 ti is better in some games and the 7950 in others.
It's generally considered that the 7950 will overclock better.

Overall there is not much in it really.

Ha, just noticed that myself after a quick google of both. Overclocking is something I'd want to try down the line but it's not hugely essential for me, I'd say I'm leaning towards 7950 as of now.

Might as well put this out there, I got a HD7950 at Christmas and it's unreal.

My 3DMark11 Graphics score is 1.5k higher than a HD6990 at the moment...

Keep in mind if you do get adventurous/lucky with your overclocking a 7950 can beat 7970's & GTX 680's at stock.

Also the never settle bundle where you get Hitman, Far cry 3,sleeping dogs for free.
Radeon is such good value right now its not even funny.

Now this has me interested! I'll have to look into that, first time though I'll probably wait before trying it but it's definitely something I want to try more and more as I look into things.
